A 13-year-old Wisconsin teenager is being hailed as a hero for saving his four young sisters from a house fire.
The quick-thinking boy tried to douse the flames with a fire extinguisher but couldn’t; the family dog rushed back to the smoke-filled residence and led him to safety.
The parents were gone less than 10 minutes when their children (ranging in age from 6 months to 13 years smelled smoke coming from the first floor of their home.
13-year-old Briar Omar rescued his young siblings then tried to save the house as well using a fire extinguisher.
“I couldn’t see, I couldn’t breathe, that’s when I felt Mandy (the family dog) rub against me, and she led me out the house,” Omar said.

Briar and Mandy got out of the burning house just before the kids’ parents could pull up outside.
Though they were devastated by what they lost, Briar’s parents count themselves fortunate for what they have left.
