When Florida dog breeder Harry Toro noticed a family member mentally struggling to readjust into society after returning from war, he gave the family member a Cane Corso puppy; the experience sparked the creation of ‘Corsos For Heroes.’
Toro explained, “Some veterans don’t want to interact with people, so they shut themselves in their homes and become isolated.”
However, Toro continued, once a first responder or a veteran is given a puppy, they have to care for the canine by walking it every day, which gives them a reason to leave their houses.
Harry Toro created Corsos for Heroes to give struggling veterans and first responders a puppy in the hopes of helping them recover before they try to self-medicate. https://t.co/ggCi9L6KII
