Sailors with the Italian Navy were surprised when they pulled a shark out of the ocean that had the facial features of a pig.
Naval officers first spotted the creature in waters off Elba island.
The find was not a mutant fish but was a rare shark called Angular Roughshark.
It is also known as the pig-faced shark, and the species generally thrives 2,300 feet below the ocean’s surface.
The shark is also listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List.
The angular roughshark, known for its flattened head and pig-like snout, lives in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean.
Photos of the weird-looking sea animal quickly went viral on social media.
